Design Technology at Grove

Autumn 2026

Design and Technology at Grove encourages children to become imaginative problem-solvers who can design, make and evaluate purposeful products. Throughout their time at school, pupils work on practical projects such as moving storyboards, wheeled trolleys, healthy food products, torches, bird hides, cam mechanisms, fairground rides and alarms. They learn to think carefully about who their product is for, how it will work, what materials or ingredients they need, and how to improve their designs. Food technology is also an important part of our curriculum, helping children learn about healthy choices, preparation skills and the enjoyment of making food

  1. Year 6 - To design, make and evaluate an alarm to protect a car.
