At Grove school, children experience a wide range of sports which help to enhance the children's physical, social and mental health. All classes have two PE lessons a week with children in years 3 and 4 learning to swim and water safety skills. The PE curriculum at Grove allows children to learn fundemental movments in EYFS and KS1. As children move into KS2, these skills are then applied in lessons and competitive sport.
PE at Grove helps children develop physical skills, teamwork, confidence and enjoyment of being active. Pupils take part in a wide range of activities including gymnastics, dance, athletics, swimming, outdoor adventurous activities and team games such as basketball, football, handball, cricket, hockey, netball, tag rugby, tennis, badminton and rounders. Children learn how to improve their movement, coordination, fitness, tactics and sportsmanship. Our PE curriculum supports pupils to develop healthy habits, resilience and a positive attitude towards physical activity.
