Music at Grove

Autumn 2026

Music is an important part of life at Grove and gives children opportunities to listen, perform, compose and respond creatively. Pupils explore rhythm, pulse, pitch, tempo, dynamics, instruments and musical styles from around the world, including West African call and response, orchestral music, jazz, samba, Baroque music, film music and songs from World War Two. Children also develop their performance skills through singing, body percussion, tuned instruments and class instrumental learning such as djembe and recorder. Music helps our pupils develop confidence, collaboration, creativity and a love of performance.
